There are electrically assisted bicycles, there are electric motorbikes, right here and now we're talking about the ebikes that sit in the middle ... not a cycle, not a traditional motorbike, something that looks like the A-Team might make if they were imprisoned in a Halfords store.
Some folk argue that ebikes are not motorbikes, but an electric motor is still a motor .... and it's in a bike ... so there's no denying tha times are changing.
It is possible to love our noisy engines which run on dinosaur juice and yet still embrace future technologies. We can have both if we want to.
The trusty steed of eco friendly trail riders and urban narcotic delivery agents, the Sur-Ron is the big name in ebikes.
Wheel sizes:
70/100/19 front
70/100/19 rear
Luckily this is a common size on big-wheel junior motocross bikes.
While most MX tyres in this size are front fitment only for motorbikes, you use this size on the front and back of your off-road Sur-Ron, and you can see the tyres currently available here...
Running a front tyre on the back wheel is not lawful on the road, but the off -road Sur-Ron models are not road legal or MOT'd so it's not an issue when trail riding. And if you're an urban delivery agent zooming down the footpath with pockets full of powder then you're already outside of the law n you won't care about legal tyres I'm sure.
We have tyres for you! You, the licenced and insured riders who don't want to be pulled over by the constabulary, you want legal tyres and you shall have legal tyres!

Here you will see the same list of Sur-Ron tyres, but look out for the Kenda K760 Trakmaster as a single tyre, or a pair of tyres. This tyre is road legal, and as it's a universal fitment it's fine to run on the front OR/AND back tyre.
Keep riding you trail blazers, keep pioneering that new technology so it can get better and better and one day we can be riding 300bhp electric monsters with a range of 900 miles.. it all started with you!
What is it with us motorcyclists? We buy a bike with a 160 wide rear tyre and we want to fit a 180.
We buy a bike with a 180 and we wan't to fit a 190.
We buy a bike with a 190/50 profile and we are determined to run a 190/55.
We love big back tyres, and the same is true with the Talaria models....
70/100/19 Front
80/100/19 Rear ... check out that 80 wide rear! That's how it's done!!!
Sadly though it really limits what's available to put on your bike. Check the current tyre choices for the Talaria here!
Currently only Kenda make tyres in these 2 sizes, and as I write this, there is no stock of the rear and hasn't been for a few months... but do click that link, there could be more stock at any time!
Me personally, I welcome ebikes and look forward to having more models available, better models and ranges available. For town and city commuting they are cheap and nippy and should be encouraged. Plus I have the Kawasaki for fun!
