Have you heard about the new Diablo Rosso 4 Corsa?? They're amazing! Did you see that the new Bridgestone S23 laps faster than the S22? They're phenomenal! Oh my god those Dunlop Mutant's look funky and they grip well in the wet and dry... Superb!!!
And have you tried out those Metzeler Sportec M7RR sports tyres???? ............ Anyone? .............. Hello? ...... oh.
We speak to a lot of bikers here at Sticky Stuff and many of you folk are very excitable about certain products, and we see why. It is very easy to rave on about the latest Pirelli fast road rubber, the new Bridgestone sports tyres etc.
And yet the Metzeler Sportec M7RR does not generate any excitement. OK so it's not the latest sports tyre from Metzeler (the M9RR) but it's a very fine tyre and it deserves some recognition and some love!
People love the Diablo Rosso 3, the S21, the Power 2CT, the Sport Attack 2 and none of those are the latest generation tyre in it's class...... but ... still no love for the M7RR.
Is it the price? Well, they're not the cheapest in their class, but they're well priced for a quality tyre.
They just don't generate .... 'a buzz'
I am not a trained tyre tester or jouralist so I can't sense or cleverly describe the finer details, but I have been riding a while, I know what's worked for me, I know what's scared me to death.
I put some onto my old CBR1000RR Fireblade and I rode them until I sold the bike.
I'm not going to say a lot, because there's not a lot to say.... but I'll say this...... THEY DESERVE MORE LOVE!
Having swapped to sports tyres from sports touring tyres there was always going to be an improvement in dry grip.
Surely that means a drop in cold / damp / wet grip? .... and maybe there was, but not enough to notice.
In fact, I didnt notice much of anything as the Metzelers just did their job beautifully and never gave me a moment's concern.
Dry = gripped
Wet = gripped
Cold = gripped
I'd say that the M7RR is massively under-rated and I'd happily recommend them... and do you want some good news?
The price will go down in 2024! BUY BUY BUY!!!!
